Step by Step Guide to set up your Multi-Factor Authentication

Embrace the power of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to stay secure and confident in your online interactions.

Discover the enhanced security features of Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication is an advanced security measure that adds an extra layer of identity verification when accessing your CDX accounts or sensitive information. Unlike traditional username and password combinations, MFA requires users to provide multiple forms of identification, making it significantly more challenging for unauthorized actors to gain access.

With our step-by-step guide, setting up MFA has never been easier. Begin your journey towards securing your account against unauthorized access.

What are the benefits of Multi-Factor Authentication?

Enhanced Security: MFA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your accounts and sensitive information. Even if your password is compromised, an additional factor is required for authentication.

Compliance and Industry Standards: Many regulatory frameworks and industry standards require MFA implementation to protect user data and ensure compliance.

Prevents Identity Theft: MFA helps prevent identity theft as it becomes much harder for malicious actors to impersonate you and gain unauthorized access to your accounts.

User-Friendly: Once set up, MFA is straightforward to use and provides peace of mind knowing your accounts are protected.

Protection against Data Breaches: In the event of a data breach, MFA adds an extra safeguard, ensuring that your account remains secure.

How can I reset my MFA settings?

If you´ve lost access to your MFA device or need to reset your authentication method, you can do so from your account settings. Company Administrators can also reset MFA for users if needed. Learn more.

Where can I find more information about MFA?

You can find answers to common MFA and login-related questions in the CDX MFA FAQ.

Step 1: Access the Login Page

Open your web browser and go to www.cdxsystem.com to initiate the MFA setup process.

Click the "Login" button.

If you're initiating MFA usage for the first time:

  • Click "Forgot Password?" link
  • Enter your known CDX userID and click "Submit"
  • Close the browser tab
  • Watch out for an email with subject "Reset password"
  • Click "Link to reset credentials" in this email
  • Proceed with Step 3

Step 2: Log in to your CDX Account

Enter your username and password,
then click "Sign In" to advance to the next step.

Step 3: Recognize Screen to Setup "Mobile Authenticator"

You will be prompted to set up your MFA.
Choose "Mobile Authenticator" as your preferred method.

Step 4: Choose an Authenticator App (on your mobile phone)

You can decide between popular apps like

  • Google Authenticator,
  • Microsoft Authenticator,
  • FreeOTP,
  • or other compatible apps that may work as well.

In this example, we use Microsoft Authenticator.

Step 5: Add a New Account

In your chosen authenticator app,
find the "Add Account" or "+" button,
and select the option to add a new account.

Step 6: Scan the QR-Code

Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed on the setup page. This will create the account in your app.

Note:
If you cannot scan the QR code, click on the "Unable to Scan?" link on the "Mobile Authenticator Setup" screen for the necessary information to set up MFA manually.

Type the alphanumeric code into your Authenticator App.

Step 7: Setting up the Account

The app will now generate a code for the CDX account.
Tap on the account entry to retrieve the code.

Step 8: Enter the Received Code

On the CDX webpage, enter the code you received from the authenticator app. Additionally, provide a "Device Name" for the device where your authenticator app is installed (you can use free text to describe the device).

Step 9: Note on Code Validity

Please note that the received code is only valid for 30 seconds. The app usually indicates how quickly it will expire. If it is going to expire in a few seconds, simply wait for the next code to be generated. Codes used outside of their validity time will not work.

If you're initiating MFA usage for the first time:

Update your password by entering your new chosen password and confirming it by typing it in a second time.

Depending on your browser:

  • Automatic redirection to CDX portal: You can immediately start working in CDX.
  • "Your account was updated.": If you see a screen with this message, please navigate to CDX Login Page and log in with the credentials you just set. Then, you can start working in CDX.
