CDX System Updated to Include New CMRT 6.5
We are pleased to announce that the Compliance Data eXchange (CDX) platform has been updated to incorporate the latest Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) version 6.5. This new version was released by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) on April 25, 2025, ensuring our users have access to the most current tools for conflict minerals compliance reporting.
What's New in CMRT 6.5
The latest version of the CMRT includes updated Smelter Reference List and Standard Smelter List. According to RMI, the next version of the CMRT is anticipated to be released in Spring 2026.
Why This Update Matters
Implementing the latest CMRT version is essential for several reasons:
- Regulatory Compliance: Using CMRT 6.5 demonstrates proper due diligence for SEC reporting requirements and supports compliance with the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act. This helps ensure your company meets its legal obligations regarding conflict minerals reporting.
- Enhanced Data Accuracy: The updated smelter lists provide the most current information about smelters and refiners in your supply chain, allowing for more accurate reporting and better supply chain visibility.
- Supply Chain Transparency: The CMRT facilitates the transfer of critical information throughout your supply chain, including mineral country of origin data and details about utilized smelters and refiners.
Benefits for Your Organization
Adopting CMRT 6.5 through the CDX platform offers numerous advantages:
- Improved Due Diligence: Using the latest version demonstrates your commitment to thorough due diligence processes, which is a key component of reasonable country of origin inquiry (RCOI) for SEC reporting.
- Standardized Reporting: The CMRT provides a uniform framework for collecting and disclosing data about conflict minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold) throughout your supply chain.
- Enhanced Supplier Communication: The updated template can serve as a catalyst for establishing clear expectations with suppliers regarding routine updates and the use of current reporting standards.
- Risk Mitigation: Proper conflict minerals reporting helps identify and address potential risks in your supply chain, protecting your company's reputation and ensuring ethical sourcing practices.
We encourage all users to begin utilizing CMRT 6.5 for their conflict minerals reporting to ensure compliance with current standards and to demonstrate ongoing commitment to responsible sourcing practices.
