CLP ATP 22 Reflected in CDX: Updated CMR Classifications Under REACH Annex XVII

May 06, 2026

CDX has been updated to reflect the 22nd Adaptation to Technical Progress (ATP 22) of the EU CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008), which came into force on 1 May 2026.

ATP 22 introduces new and updated harmonised classifications for a range of substances listed in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation. For CDX users, the key significance of this update relates to REACH Annex XVII Entries 28, 29, and 30, which prohibit the supply of substances classified as carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxicants of Category 1A or 1B (CMR 1A/1B) to the general public.

Where ATP 22 assigns a new CMR 1A or 1B classification to a substance, that substance becomes subject to the consumer product prohibition under Entries 28, 29, and 30 from the date of application. All substance records in CDX carrying a Category 1A or 1B CMR classification have been updated to reflect the current harmonised classifications.

Manufacturers and suppliers should review their substance declarations in CDX to confirm that any newly classified CMR 1A/1B substances are accurately reflected and that products intended for consumer use are assessed against the applicable restrictions.
