China Issues First Mandatory RoHS Standard (GB 26572-2025)

October 21, 2025

On August 1, 2025, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation published GB 26572-2025, its first mandatory Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) standard for electrical and electronic products. Effective August 1, 2027, the standard aligns with EU RoHS limits and integrates the previous GB/T 26572-2011 and SJ/T 11364-2024 guidelines.

What this means for business

Manufacturers and importers of EEE in China must ensure product compliance with the new substance concentration limits by the 2027 effective date. Companies should update their testing procedures and supplier declarations now to meet the mandatory requirements.
