Senate Reviews Targeted TSCA Reforms on Fees and New Chemicals

March 04, 2026

The TSCA Fee Reauthorization and Improvement Act of 2026, examined by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on March 4, 2026, focuses specifically on Section 5 amendments and the new chemicals programme. It aims to make the review process more efficient and transparent by clarifying procedural rules, improving scheduling and timelines, increasing transparency for chemical submitters, and establishing special review pathways for chemicals critical to research and development. Senate Republicans expressed support for these targeted reforms as a practical way to improve chemical reviews without compromising safety.
Both drafts remain proposals at this stage. It is yet to be seen whether either can gain sufficient bipartisan support to advance further.
