Updated Background Document Released for EU PFAS Restriction

On October 15, 2025, the five national authorities (Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark) published a summary of the updated Background Document for the universal PFAS restriction proposal. This document outlines the environmental and human health risks associated with PFAS and assesses the proportionality of various restriction options. It serves as the foundational justification for the restriction under the REACH Regulation.
