UK Advances PFAS Regulation

February 02, 2026

PFAS regulation is advancing not only in the European Union—through REACH restriction proposals and national measures—but also in the United Kingdom. On February 2, 2026, the UK government published its inaugural national PFAS Plan, titled "Building a Safer Future Together."

This strategic framework fosters collaboration among UK and devolved governments, industry stakeholders, scientists, and communities to systematically address PFAS challenges. Key actions include identifying sources and pathways, reducing environmental dispersion, enhancing exposure monitoring, and accelerating the development and adoption of safer alternatives.

The plan prioritizes evidence-based interventions, regulatory coherence, and international cooperation, while safeguarding essential societal applications; it thereby signals the need for supply chain professionals to strengthen PFAS due diligence and compliance preparedness in UK.
