ECHA Opens REACH Authorisation Consultation on Four Substances

Februar 02, 2026

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has opened a consultation on its draft recommendation to include four substances in the REACH Authorisation List. Companies that wish to continue using these substances will need to apply for authorisation once they are officially added.
The substances under consultation are:

  • Bumetrizole (UV-326)
  • 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol (UV-329)
  • Triphenyl phosphate
  • 2-(dimethylamino)-2-[(4-methylphenyl)methyl]-1-[4-(morpholin-4-yl)phenyl]butan-1-one

ECHA is seeking information on how these substances are used, their volumes, potential exemptions from authorisation, and supply chain structures. Registrants and downstream users are encouraged to update use information in their REACH dossiers and submit comments by 2 May 2026.
The draft recommendation will be reviewed by the Member State Committee, which will provide an opinion before ECHA finalises its recommendation to the European Commission. If adopted, the authorisation requirement will aim to control risks to human health and the environment and encourage substitution where viable alternatives exist.
For more information and details on how to participate in the consultation, visit ECHA’s official website.
