CDX updated to include RoHS Directive Amendments

März 14, 2024

CDX has been updated to incorporate the latest amendments to the RoHS Directive.

On January 10, 2024, the Official Journal of the European Union published the revised RoHS Directive (EU) 2024/232, marking a significant update that includes exemptions for lead and cadmium in recovered rigid PVC for use in electrical and electronic doors and windows. This update to the RoHS Directive, specifically to Annex III of Entry 46, allows for the use of lead and cadmium in plastic profiles containing mixtures produced from polyvinyl chloride waste. The concentration in the recovered rigid PVC material must not exceed 0.1% cadmium by weight and 1.5% lead by weight. This exemption, which went into effect on January 30, 2024, is set to expire on May 28, 2028.

This development is welcomed by stakeholders across the electrical and electronic manufacturing sectors, as it provides clarity and guidance on compliance with the updated RoHS Directive. By incorporating these changes into the CDX system, manufacturers and suppliers can ensure that their products meet the necessary standards for lead and cadmium content in recovered PVC, facilitating sustainable practices and compliance with EU regulations.

Stay ahead with CDX as your trusted partner in regulatory compliance.
