September 2026 GADSL Update: PFAS Classification Changes
The September 2026 GADSL update focuses on PFAS classifications and substance-group assignments. Several existing entries change from D/P to P and move from the “Other PFAS” group into the more specific PFOA, PFCA and PFOS groups.
These are changes to existing entries, not deletions from GADSL. The distinction matters when reviewing material declarations: an entry removed from “Other PFAS” may still be covered under a different group.
Main changes
- Fatty acids, C7–13, perfluoro, compounds with ethylamine (CAS 69278-80-4) moves to the PFOA group, with its classification changing from D/P to P.
- 1,1,2,2-Tetrahydroperfluorohexadecyl acrylate (CAS 34362-49-7) moves to the PFCA-related compounds group, also changing from D/P to P.
- A further set of PFAS entries moves to the PFOS, salts and related compounds group. Their classifications likewise change from D/P to P. These include perfluorooctanesulfonamide (CAS 754-91-6) and several related sulfonamides, acrylates and other compounds.
One new substance entry
The update adds a reaction mass identified by EC 943-265-6, containing a phosphonium salt with a bisphenol AF component and bisphenol AF. The entry is assigned D/P and SVHC flags and included in the “Other PFAS” group.
No GADSL deletions or CAS-based substance deletions are listed in the September change summary.
Reviewing material declarations
When checking affected materials, suppliers should review the individual substance identifiers, classifications and group assignments together. Looking only at the substances removed from “Other PFAS” would give an incomplete picture, as those entries have been reassigned rather than removed from GADSL.
The September summary does not list revised concentration thresholds or changes concerning SCCPs. Those topics should therefore not be carried over from the earlier annual-update announcement.
