UK REACH Candidate List Updated in CDX

Oktober 29, 2026

Nine substances and substance groups have been added to the UK REACH Candidate List in Compliance Data eXchange (CDX). Users can now screen their material data sheets (MDSs) against the updated regulatory list to identify the newly listed substances in their product data.

The system update reflects the additions published by the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) on 19 October 2026. UK REACH applies in Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Inclusion on the Candidate List is not a ban, but it can trigger supply-chain communication and notification obligations.

What has been added?

The update covers the following nine substances and substance groups:

  • Medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs).
  • 1,1'-[Ethane-1,2-diylbisoxy]bis[2,4,6-tribromobenzene] (BTBPE).
  • Bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone (BCPS).
  • 2-tert-Butyl-6-(5-chloro-2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-methylphenol (bumetrizole).
  • Oligomerisation and alkylation reaction products of 2-phenylpropene and phenol (OAPP).
  • Reaction mass of triphenylthiophosphate and tertiary butylated phenyl derivatives.
  • O,O,O-Triphenyl phosphororthioate (TPPT).
  • Perfluoroheptanoic acid and its salts.
  • 4,4'-[2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene]diphenol and its salts, also known as bisphenol AF and its salts.

Reviewing material data in CDX

Users can review existing MDSs against the updated UK REACH Candidate List and identify where additional supplier information may be needed. Particular attention should be given to declarations issued before the October additions, as their substance coverage may not reflect the updated list.

Where composition data is missing or incomplete, users can request additional material information from suppliers through CDX. Screening results depend on the completeness of the underlying data: missing information should not be treated as confirmation that a substance is absent.

Regulatory context

Suppliers of articles containing a Candidate List substance above 0.1% by weight must provide business recipients with sufficient information to allow safe use, including at least the substance name. Consumers can also request this information, and suppliers must respond within 45 days.

The threshold applies to the relevant article, including an article incorporated into a more complex product. It should not simply be assessed against the total weight of an assembled product.

Producers and importers of articles may also need to notify HSE where the substance is present above 0.1% by weight and its total quantity in those articles exceeds one tonne per producer or importer per year, subject to the applicable exemptions. Separate safety data sheet and information requirements can apply to substances and mixtures.

The updated list in CDX supports the identification of listed substances in material data. Companies should use the screening results to support their assessment of the applicable UK REACH obligations, rather than treating screening alone as confirmation of compliance.

Companies supplying both Great Britain and EU markets should assess the requirements of each system separately. Existing EU REACH composition data can support a UK assessment, but an EU compliance statement alone does not confirm compliance with UK REACH.
