Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an advanced security measure that adds an extra layer of identity verification when accessing your CDX accounts or sensitive information. Unlike traditional username and password combinations, MFA requires users to provide multiple forms of identification, making it significantly more challenging for unauthorized actors to gain access.

Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication in CDX:
Activating MFA on your CDX account is quick and straightforward process. Follow these steps to add this extra layer of protection:
- Enter Username & Password: Log in to your CDX account as usual with your username and password.
- Click "Sign In": Once you've entered your credentials, click "Sign In" to proceed to the next step.
- Recognize Screen to Setup "Mobile Authenticator": You will be prompted to set up your MFA. Choose "Mobile Authenticator" as your preferred method.
- Choose an Authenticator App: You can decide between popular apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, FreeOTP, or other compatible apps that may work as well.
- Add a New Account: In your chosen authenticator app, find the "Add Account" or "+” button, and select the option to add a new account.
- Scan QR-Code on Page: Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed on the setup page. This will create the account in your app.
- Setting up the Account: The app will now generate a code for the CDX account. Tap on the account entry to retrieve the code.
- Enter the Received Code: On the CDX webpage, enter the code you received from the authenticator app. Additionally, provide a "Device Name" for the device where your authenticator app is installed (you can use free text to describe the device).
- Note on Code Validity: Please note that the received code is only valid for 30 seconds. The app usually indicates how quickly it will expire. If it is going to expire in a few seconds, simply wait for the next code to be generated. Codes used outside of their validity time will not work.
Manual Setup Option: If you cannot scan the QR code, click on the "Unable to Scan?" link on the "Mobile Authenticator Setup" screen for the necessary information to set up MFA manually.
